Choosing art is personal; sizing it should be simple. Use this guide to choose a print that feels balanced in your space and decide whether an unframed or framed finish suits your room.
Choosing a size
Start with the width of the wall or the furniture below the artwork. Above a sofa, bed, console, or desk, a useful visual rule is for the artwork to span roughly one-half to two-thirds of the furniture width. Leave breathing room around the piece rather than trying to fill the entire wall.
- 12 × 16 inches: a quiet accent for a shelf, desk, narrow wall, or small grouping.
- 16 × 16 or 16 × 32 inches: a noticeable feature above a side table, small console, or reading chair.
- 18 × 24 or 20 × 20 inches: a versatile focal point for bedrooms, offices, hallways, and smaller living areas.
- 20 × 40, 24 × 24, or 24 × 47 inches: a stronger statement above furniture or on a larger wall.
- 30 × 30 inches: a substantial square format suited to open walls and larger rooms.

Unframed or framed?
Choose an unframed fine art print if you already have a frame, want to work with a local framer, or prefer to select your own finish. Unframed prints are delivered ready to frame, rolled or flat depending on size.
Choose a framed print if you want a finished piece ready to display. Framed options use a solid wood box frame with a clean contemporary profile and protective Perspex glazing. Select black for stronger contrast, natural or brown for warmth, or white for a quieter edge.
Before measuring
- Mark the outside dimensions on your wall with painter’s tape.
- Step back and view the outline from the main entrance to the room.
- Check the height: the center of a single artwork is usually most comfortable near eye level.
- If hanging above furniture, leave enough separation that the artwork feels connected but not crowded.
Production and delivery
Every fine art print is made to order. Please allow 3–7 business days for production before shipping. Tracking is sent after the order ships. If a print arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact Chai Ô Art within 7 days of delivery with photographs of the print and packaging so a replacement or refund can be arranged when appropriate.
